Textured
Beginning its life as sheets of silver metal, I love the process of stamping and texturing the silver. The process starts with me annealing (heating the metal with my torch) the silver sheet so it is soft and ready for texturing. For stamped texture it takes precision hard hammering with a heavy brass hammer and a little bit of guts. I also create textures using special laser papers that I lay on the metal and press into the soft silver with my rolling mill. Similarly I use stainless steel texture plates through the rolling mill. Other times I use different hammers for texturing. I recently acquired some impression dies that I use with a hammer and aluminum foil to press the silver into the die. I love all the possibilities that are available when texturing sheets of silver!!
