I am starting to introduce a new metal which is exciting! I have finally invested in some 14 karat rose gold-filled wire and findings. It's a pretty rose color very similar to copper. But it won't patina and turn green like copper does. Here are a few designs where I used the same materials but varied the metals. Pictures can't do these gorgeous little opals I got justice. They are special!
As you can see from the pictures below that we are making some very visible progress on the spring house studio space. It's SO EXCITING to see the chinking going in. My husband created a base using lathe and nails and my father in law did all the mortar mixing and application. Dad also finished up the fireplace inside and I love the way it looks! The pieces are starting to really come together. They started the outside work on the eastern wall with the fireplace. The logs all get a cozy cushion of insulation behind the chinking and then a layer on foam insulation. This side is ready for the wood siding. We have chosen to not leave the old logs exposed. There is already good bit of bug damage and rotting on some (even though we replaced all of the very worst of it) and it's not efficient for heating and cooling at all. I am happy to have the logs to enjoy on the inside. My father in law working on finishing up the chimney as he really likes to do mortar in the fall.
Coming up in November...
